Information about X factor in Malta.

– On Sunday 12 January, the live shows of X Factor Malta 2020 will begin. Over the following weeks, the 12 contestants will deliver performances and face eliminations, all leading up to the grand final on 8 February where the winner will be decided. But who should win?

– The champion of X Factor Malta will also be Malta’s act for Eurovision 2020. Their song will be internally selected at a later date. Twelve strong acts have made it through the auditions, Bootcamp and Judges Houses round, meaning competition in the live shows will be tough.

Bloodline

– Julia and Samira auditioned as individuals but were put together as a duo. The pair have formed a close bond and found a musical synergy. Bloodline has become known for their tight vocal harmonies and quirky style.

Celine

– Celine’s unusual style made her a surprise pick for the live shows, but over the weeks she’s demonstrated the depths of her talent. Celine has a gruff but expressive voice with rich vibrato.

Dav. Jr

– Dav. Jr is a singer-songwriter who is as much at ease performing his own songs as he is singing covers. Dav can range from delicate to loud vocals and brings charisma to his performances.

Destiny

– Malta’s Junior Eurovision champion is a stand-out performer but she won’t get an easy ride. The judges have said Destiny will have to work hard and show there’s more to her than the soul classics she has previously favoured.

Ed Abdilla

– Where there’s Ed, there’s a ukulele. He has become known for performing folky, stripped-down uke versions of popular songs. Will the gimmick wear thin? Or can he make it to the grand final?

FAITH

– The five-piece girl group were put together at bootcamp and feature some of the strongest auditioning singers. Together, they show off their powerhouse R&B style and attitude.

Jasmine Abela

– Jasmine is one of the three acts in the Girls category. She serves an expressive pop vocal and is equally at ease when she’s dropping some rapped lines.

Justine Shorfid

– Justine brings depth and intensity to her performances. She’s fast become established as one of the strongest acts in the contest, with both vocal and emotional strength.

Karl Schembri

– Just like Romanian Eurovision star Cezar Ouatu, Karl sings in the countertenor range. His high, delicate vocals have captivated viewers and judges alike.

Kyle Cutajar

– After being eliminated in the Judges Houses round last year, Kyle is back for another shot. His loud, expressive vocals have a musical theatre quality to them.

Paul Anthony

– Paul Anthony is a smooth operator. After overcoming initial nerves, he has become more at ease, creating a cool persona behind his sunglasses.

Yazmin and James

– The photogenic duo was put together at Bootcamp. The pair have amazing chemistry and their voices sound good, both solo and harmonising together.
